Associates working in our actuarial department help determine the financial design of new products. Additionally, they perform a number of other financial management activities, including projecting cash flows (premium payments, investment income and benefit payments), coordinating income from investments with benefit obligations and setting policy reserve liabilities and financial reporting.
Customer-focused professionals in client services provide policy and service information to financial professionals and clients. The people who work in these positions support disability income and life insurance products, and are dedicated to helping clients, financial professionals and associates understand their policies. The product specialists and customer service representatives supporting this area strive to give the best service possible to our clients.
Corporate services professionals provide high-quality, cost-effective administrative services to support our associates, sales and customer service efforts and manage our assets. Teams helping to provide these services include mail and scanning, address change services, records, procurement, travel and expense, print and distribution, policy assembly, security and facilities/maintenance services.
Corporate finance professionals manage the organization’s money, including forecasting where it will come from, knowing where it is and making recommendations for spending to ensure the greatest return. Activities may include developing tax-saving strategies, preparing tax returns for federal, state and local jurisdictions, preparing bank reconciliations, monitoring the daily cash flow of the enterprise, processing expense reports, reviewing and monitoring the expense budget and preparing and reviewing enterprise financial statements.
Human Resources associates strive to make the work environment safe, productive and diverse. They care for associates by creating policies, determining compensation, understanding employment laws, distributing payroll, administering associate retirement plans and are responsible for on-site medical services and the fitness center. Human Resources associates focus on benefits, talent acquisition, learning and development, payroll and associate engagement.
Investment professionals manage both the borrower’s and company’s capital. With a focus on commercial real estate and mortgages, our credit analysts, fund reporters and accounting managers price the mortgage loans above alternative product that the investment associates originate for the company.
Technology enables us to successfully do business and compete in the financial services industry. Career opportunities are available in administrative systems, business analysis, imaging and process analysis, quality assurance, business continuity and disaster recovery, information security, networking, service desk, telecommunications, change control, corporate systems, data center, distribution management systems, mainframe and database support, new business, portal and content management, and research and development.
The legal and compliance team works together to provide legal counsel and advice in addition to risk and business performance assessments to all areas of the company. This team also upholds the integrity of our Mission, Vision and Values statement. Professional careers in this area include attorneys, paralegals, legal administrative assistants and compliance associates.
Our Marketing professionals provide communication and product marketing strategies to our corporate office and financial professionals. Specialty areas include: marketing communications, public relations, social media, meetings and events, marketing technology, field development and agent support. Associates in our marketing areas provide support to all areas of the business for external, client and internal audiences.
Associates from numerous departments support the day-to-day operations and administration of our company. This includes everything from data entry to the issue and payment of policies. It takes a large number of associates to keep things running smoothly.
Associates in product management are responsible for maintaining a competitive and profitable product portfolio. They also manage the company’s inforce product portfolio to achieve targeted profitability while providing equitable value to policyholders. Activities include product research, competitive analysis, actuarial modeling, risk analysis, documentation and supporting product filing and system implementation.
There are several types of sales and distribution avenues: 

Producing general agent (PGA) distribution and its regional officers recruit, hire, train and build relationships with independent producing general agents and assist in placing business with us. Regional vice presidents and regional sales directors assist independent financial professionals in the areas of practice management, sales and marketing strategies, and agency growth.  

Career agency distribution supports our general agents and career agents by helping them build their agencies and practices. In addition to supporting existing general agencies, career agency distribution is responsible for expanding the company's footprint by recruiting new general agencies.

The O.N. Equity Sales Company (ONESCO) is our affiliated retail broker/dealer with approximately 700 registered representatives who are also traditional career and PGA agents across the U.S. and Puerto Rico. ONESCO representatives offer not only our products, but also mutual funds, investment advisory products, non-proprietary variable annuities, stocks, bonds and many other types of investments.

Underwriting associates are responsible for risk selection to protect the company's mortality and morbidity rates – a key factor in our success. Underwriters evaluate life and disability insurance applications along with medical records, financial and non-medical data to determine the insurability and risk class of applicants.
